Overview of Study

This study trialled a new method of IUD offering contraception as well as reducing heavy menstrual periods.

Participants were women who:

  • were aged 18-48 years
  • were willing to have an IUD inserted
  • were using condoms or had been sterilised or their partner had had a vasectomy

Objectives of study

This study required participation for one year. During this time participants were reviewed at frequent intervals, including blood tests and ultrasound scans of the endometrium.
