IUD Refresher Training

Course description

This course is designed for clinicians who are already trained IUD inserters and wish to refresh and enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in IUD insertion.

 

The course comprises a 3-hour face-to-face practical workshop led by Family Planning Australia clinical facilitators.

 

The workshop covers expert tips and tricks for insertion of all IUD’s available in Australia, practise of IUD insertion using pelvic models, and case studies discussing commonly encountered clinical scenarios.  

 

Please note that this training does not include clinical placement required for initial training to become an inserter. 

Who should attend?

Clinicians who are trained IUD inserters and wish to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in IUD insertion.

Course structure

The course is offered as a 3 hour face-to-face practical skills workshop. The workshop will include a presentation and discussion on available types of IUDs (hormonal and copper), changes in the field and clinical updates. It covers practise insertion of all IUD types using pelvic models. The workshop also includes case studies covering commonly encountered clinical scenarios.

This training is recommended for clinicians who are already trained IUD inserters.

Recognition / Accreditation

Participants who attend the workshop will be issued with a Statement of Attendance that can be used as evidence for a self-recorded activity for CPD.
