What is Healthline?

Family Planning NSW answers questions about reproductive and sexual health over the phone and by e-mail.

Our experienced nurses are available to answer such questions in a friendly, empathic and supportive manner.

We especially welcome questions from people from different cultural backgrounds, religions, ages and sexual orientation, or those who have difficulty in reaching reproductive and sexual health services.

The Healthline staff provide callers with information, advice and options across a wide range of reproductive and sexual health issues, including:

  • Contraception
  • Pregnancy
  • Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)
  • Women's health
  • Men's health
  • Healthy relationships

Health professionals

The Healthline service is also a useful resource for health professionals requiring the latest reproductive and sexual health information. Health professionals can also refer people to Healthline.

The information provided by Healthline should not be considered specific medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or a second opinion. This is a confidential service, however if you are under 16 years old we are required by law to notify the relevant authorities if we believe you are at risk of harming yourself, at risk of harming someone else, or if you are at risk of harm or neglect including but not limited to sexual assault.

We are based in NSW, Australia and are only able to answer questions from people living in Australia.

Healthline nurses have restrictions to only answer phone calls and emails about reproductive and sexual health. For questions about other health matters you will be referred to other service providers and resource centres.
